A sinkhole in the Bringi stream near Wandevalgam village in Kokernag’s Anantnag district has blocked water flow, posing a harm to downstream flora and fauna.
Experts say the vertical hole is a natural occurrence caused by the progressive dissolving of limestone boulders in the river.
The entire water empties into this hole, forming a whirlpool. This is the second similar incident in the neighbourhood in recent memory.
