Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference condemned the arrest of a woman and her daughter by the authorities for sloganeering at the gunfight site in Rangreth Srinagar.

“It is very unfortunate that mere raising of slogans is seen as a threat by those in authority. APHC asked the authorities to release Afrooza Begum and her daughter Ayesha who have committed no crime except an emotional outburst,” said APHC in a statement.

A woman and her young daughter were arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday for holding protests and raising “anti-national” slogans following a brief shootout in Rangreth Srinagar on Monday in which two militants were killed.
