Baramulla: Security forces on Sunday launched an anti-militancy operation in north Kashmir’s Pattan area, officials said.

According to officials, joint team of Army’s 29 RR, 176 BN CRPF, JK Police launched CASO at Wanigam payeen village of Pattan Baramulla after receiving information about suspicious movement of militants in the area. 
They said door to door searches were conducted and locals of the area were questioned by search party. They said large contingent of forces were rushed to the area and all entry and exit points were sealed.

A police officer told a news agency that the CASO is underway as there are reliable inputs about presence of militants in the area.

“So far no contact with the hiding hiding militants has been established”, the officer added.

He further said that forces are ascertaining the situation and if need arises, announcements through public address systems will be made to persuade militants to surrender. (KNS)
