Srinagar: A photograph of detained former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah has taken social media by a storm with some prominent faces sharing the image.

The image that became viral on social media earlier today has the junior Abdullah sporting a long grey unkempt beard. The image appears to be recently clicked as is evident through the falling snow. He can be seen smiling in the picture.

Many senior journalists shared the image on Twitter expresssing their shock at the looks of vice president of National Conference who has been under detention since August 4.

On August 5, the central government abrogated the article-370 of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Sensing trouble over the move, the BJP led government detained hundreds of political workers and leaders including three former chief ministers of the erstwhile state.

The photo is the second one of Abdullah, to come out in the public. Earlier in October, Abdullah’s photo in which he could be seen sporting a trimmed beard was published by various national media outlets.

This photo however has Abdullah dressed shabbily which has lead to shocking reactions from social media users.

The new look of  usually clean-shaven Omar Abdullah  has garnered sympathy with statements like, “Although I have huge political differences with the NC and Omar Abdullah, I cannot but condemn his continuous detention.”
Most of the Twitterati, however, wanted to see the former CM back in action and urged him to not lose hope.

A journalist while taking to his Twitter handle wrote, “I am sorry. I don’t see the smile of this man. I just see a former Chief Minister, Union Minister in custody for six months without any case against him. The continued detention is unwarrented.”

Another journalist while tweeting the picture just wrote “Wow Omar!”
