As the Independence day functions concluded across the valley peacefully, the teachers in Anantnag were asked to stay on duty till 5 pm, which is being resented by them.

A group of teachers told Kashmir News Service (KNS) reporter that they reached the venue early in the morning today, and have attended the functions till the last moment, “but unlike other districts, teachers in Anantnag are being asked to stay on duty till 5 pm, which is sheer discrimination.”

They said that all the teachers reached to duty before the scheduled time, and have joined the functions along with other officials, but they were yet to reach home, even when functions are over across the UT.

When contacted, chief education officer, Anantnag said that this is not their personal order, but direct order from GAD and all other departments. (KNS
