Parents of students have alleged that a private coaching centre in south Kashmir’s Kulgam forced their wards to stand on frozen snow barefoot after failing to pay the fee, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust (KNT).

Students at A1 Coaching Centre, located in Pohlu village of Kulgam, were allegedly forced to stand in the snow barefoot by the institute’s administration after they fail to pay the fee. An unidentified parent told the agency that they were shocked over the incident and filed a complaint at police station Devsar.

“We can’t believe that any coaching centre can stoop so low force students to stand bare feet on snow in this bone-chilling cold merely for not paying the fee,” one of the parents said.

Police took cognizance of the matter while management of the coaching institute tendered unconditional apology and gave in writing that such incidents won’t be repeated in future.

When contacted by the agency, one of the owners from the A1-Coaching Centre first feigned ignorance and then refuted the allegations. (KNT)
