Tourists stranded at Sonmarg following snowfall on Wednesday were evacuated by police and shifted to safer places.
Over 50 tourists at Sonmarg were evacuated by Ganderbal Police after they received information about their presence.
The operation was launched on the direction of SSP Ganderbal Nikhal Borkar and was supervised by SDPO Yasir Qadri.
A police official said that police drove a number of vehicles from Gagangeer to Sonmarg and brought them back to Ganderbal wherefrom they left for Srinagar.
Many tourists had headed to the higher reaches of Sonmarg to enjoy snowfall despite the police advisory.
As the snow continued, over 50 tourists got stranded in Sonmarg.
SHOs from Gund and Sonmarg police stations were also part of the operation. (KNT)
