Srinagar: Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone today said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are in pain and there is helplessness all around.

Lone maintained that the Peoples Conference firmly believes that leadership in Kashmir means rising up to the occasion and rescuing the Kashmiris instead of throwing them in harm’s way.

“The situation in J-K is unambiguously extraordinary. People are in pain and there is helplessness all around. The process of disempowerment started on August 5 refuses to abate. Disempowerment has become a continuous process and is achieved incrementally with unfailing frequency,” he said.

Lone added: “Rarely a day passes when there is not some sort of law aimed at belittling the Kashmiris, humiliating them and further disempowering them. The luxury to perform to pre scripted theatres in Kashmir is long gone. It is time the leadership rose from its slumber and understood that every word that the leadership utters has a consequence for the people of Kashmir. The least that these leaders can do is to not facilitate the punishment of Kashmiris through their hollow and high-pitched rhetoric.”

Asserting that the Peoples Conference is the party that has a legacy of sacrifices, he said the party will continue to strive to accord people a dignified way of living.

“It is not the time to get terrified due to the tough ordeals of the present time, it is the moment to stay far-sighted, firm and resolved to get Jammu and Kashmir out of the present cycle of uncertainty”, said Lone.

While welcoming DDC Anantnag member from Sagam, Adv Saleem Parry into the party, Lone said that he is a new generation leader who will, in the future, play a pivotal role in the politics of J-K and facilitate J-K’s transition from changelessness to change.

Parray, joined the Peoples Conference during a massive gathering in Kokernag today. He was welcomed into the fold by PC President Sajad Gani Lone, senior leaders Mansoor Soharwardy and other members of the party.

Parray while expressing pleasure on joining the party said that he was inspired by the vision of Sajad Lone and policies pursued by the Peoples Conference. He said that by joining the party he can serve the people in a much better way.
