Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party leader Waheed Para has been booked under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) by the counter-intelligence wing of Jammu and Kashmir police after getting bail from the National Investigation Agency court, party president Mehbooba Mufti said on Monday.
The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir while taking to her Twitter handle said, “After getting bail from NIA Court due to lack of evidence, @parawahidhas now been booked under UAPA by CIK on fabricated charges in a terror case yet again. This is purely political vendetta against PDP for raising our voice against Delhi’s onslaught.”
Earlier in the day, the PDP youth wing leader was detained again for questioning in a separate militancy-related case soon after being granted bail by the National Investigation Agency(NIA) court
The Counter Intelligence wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police detained Para immediately after his release from District Jail, Ambphalla, on Saturday evening.
“We had received a message from Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) to collect Para from jail as he was wanted by them for questioning in connection with FIR No. 31 registered with them in Srinagar,” a senior jail official was quoted as saying by Indian Express newspaper.
“It is an open FIR and Waheed’s name is not mentioned. Several of (PDP chief) Mehbooba Mufti’s relatives and aides have already been questioned in this case,” the newspaper quoting unnamed source reported.
