Mobile internet services were suspended in parts of Kashmir as a precautionary measure in the Valley on Monday.
The areas include Srinagar district’s Anchar, Eidgah, Qamarwari, Soura, MR Gung, Nowhatta, Safa Kadal, Bagyass; Kulgam district’s Wanpoh, Qaimoh and in Pulwama district, Litter area.
Several residents from these areas spoke to The Kashmir Walla saying that the mobile internet had been snapped.
This comes amid recent civilian killings in Kashmir. Twelve civilians have been killed in Kashmir since 1 October, sparking fear in the valley.
On Saturday, a street hawker from Bihar and a labourer from Uttar Pradesh were killed in two back-to-back attacks by militants in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier this month, a street hawker from Bihar, Virendra Paswan, was killed by militants in Srinagar’s Eidgah area.
Dozens of non-local workers were seen leaving Kashmir on Monday morning at the bus stands in many districts. The government has however moved many non-locals to secure locations.
