Jammu-Srinagar national highway has been closed for vehicular traffic due to landslide on the road stretch at Shalgari Banihal, officials said on Thursday.

“Jammu Srinagar NHW blocked @ Shalgari, Banihal due to major landslide. People r advised 2 ask TCUs b4 journey(sic),” traffic police tweeted on Wednesday late evening.

“Jammu Srinagar NHW is still blocked. SSG road and Mughal road are also closed,” Traffic police tweeted on Thursday morning.

The highway is the lifeline of the landlocked valley and the main road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country. (KS)
