Srinagar: The Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Tuesday demanded a high-level probe by a sitting high court judge in the killing of three youth in an alleged gunfight in Srinagar’s Lawaypora so that “the real and actual facts are brought before the public and guilty are severely punished.”
In a statement, the HCBA said, “In an emergency meeting of the executive members of under the Chairmanship of Advocate N.A.Ronga was called in which amongst other issues the recent killings of three Kashmiri students by armed forces at Lawaypora, Srinagar was discussed at length.”
The lawyer’s body said that the killing of the students has not only sent shock waves across Kashmir but has equally shocked the Lawyers community also, “It is painful to know that the deceased students had nothing to do with militancy, they were not directly or indirectly involved with any militant organisation and were innocent students as per the statement of their families.” The statement by the Bar association reads.
Adding that the Bar Association is sharing the grief with the family members of the deceased students and “pray almighty Allah to give them strength to bear this irreparable loss. It was also resolved that a delegation of Bar Association shall visit the families of the deceased students.” The communique concludes.
