Srinagar: All but 277 elected District Development Council (DDC) representatives were administered oath in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, who is in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody and had sought a court order for online oath, could not do so due to procedural issues.

According to news agency KDC the family of winning PDP candidate Para alleged that the authorities did not facilitate his oath ceremony online despite a court order.

An official said that Para is under judicial custody. However, no court order was served through a proper channel. He said that an email received from Court of law by Deputy Commissioner office Pulwama and officials have accordingly forwarded that to the election authorities, who will seek final opinion and issue us the necessary instructions, he added.

The NIA arrested Para days after he filed his nomination for the DDC polls in a case related to militancy. (KDC)
