Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested at least twelve youth for organizing a picnic amid coronavirus lockdown in Ganderbal, central Kashmir.

Official sources told that police received information that over twenty youth are on a picnic in Tragbal area of the district, which is in violation of the prohibitory orders to curb the spread of coronavirus.

After the tip, police raided the spot; a few boys escaped from the spot while twelve people were arrested and booked.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, said that an FIR vide number 28/2020 U/S 188,269 IPC was registered against them at Police Station Lar. While, those who escaped, he said, are being traced.

“It is again warned not to congregate in view of threat of COVID-19, otherwise strict legal action shall be taken,” he said. (KNT)
