Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) spokesman G M Mir on Tuesday demanded a judicial inquiry into the Sopore attack saying that the concerned police was not intimated about the important meeting to make security arrangements.

Flanked by Baramulla district president and other leaders, GM Mir as per a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO) questioned the use of guns to kill people.

Mir blamed Pakistan for killing BJP leaders. “BJP leaders are getting killed and it’s to be looked into very seriously as to why only our people are being targeted,” Mir said.

“BJP has spread its wings in the Kashmir valley and out of frustration the regional pro-separatist parties are doing all this (referring to targets) and it must be investigated thoroughly,” he said.

“We urge the Home Minister to order a judicial inquiry since there are administrative and security lapses in it,” he said.

Expressing regret over the killing, the spokesman said that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), had written to councillors for a meeting scheduled at 12 pm on Monday for a floor test but he himself reached the venue almost over an hour late “which is doubtable”.

“We don’t know where he was busy hatching the propaganda. It must be looked into as it’s doubtable since the one who fixed the meeting was absent,” Mir said, adding that if the copy of the handout has been issued to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla why not to the Superintendent of Police (SP) who would have ensured proper security arrangements since the scheduled meet wasn’t an ordinary thing.

“We have learnt that the concerned SP was not intimated about the event scheduled to be held to make security arrangements,” the spokesman said.

Mir said that people must be told about the reality of the incident and those involved should face the law. (KNO)
