Srinagar: An army personnel was injured after Pakistani army violated ceasefire along the Line off Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The soldier, Sepoy Rajesh Reddy of 12 Madras, sustained splinter injury in the shelling near the LoC in Kerni and Mendhar sectors last night. Reddy was immediately shifted to a hospital in Rajouri for treatment, said officials.

“On 11 Apr 2020 at about 0950 hours, Pak initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms & intense shelling with Mortars along LoC in Kirni sector, District Poonch (J&K),” a defense spokesman said. The army is retaliating befittingly, the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, two residential houses were damaged after fresh shelling erupted near LoC in Mendhar and Balakote sectors of the border district. (GNS)
