Srinagar: Army on Monday went berserk in Khrew area of Pampore Tehsil of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A news agency Current News Service (CNS) quoting locals reported that the army physically assaulted drivers “without any reason”.
Locals said that the army verbally abused them and they ‘were beaten ruthlessly with sticks and gun butts’.
Eye witnesses said that the army smashed the mirrors of vehicles present at main bus stop Khrew.
“Trembling in fear, the shopkeepers left their shops and started rushing towards safe places,” witnesses said.
The locals also blamed the army for vandalising the vegetables, fruits and other items from the nearby shops.
