At least five residential houses were gutted in a devastating fire incident in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar city.

The fire broke out in Hamza Colony Dandarkha area of Batamaloo Srinagar late Sunday night.

A Fire and Emergency Services official said that fire broke out in a residential house and engulfed nearby adjacent houses within no time.

He said a firefighter sustained injuries during the rescue operation.

“The firefighter was shifted to hospital and is stable,” he added.

Locals said that they along with police, and firefighters tried hard to douse the flames, however, the intensity of the fire was too high.

Till the fire was controlled, five concrete residential houses were gutted in the incident resulting in the massive property loss.

A police official said that the cause of the fire is being ascertained. (KNT)
