Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the army on Saturday claimed to have seized 15 kilograms of narcotics on the Line of Control during a search operation on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch Rohit Baskotra accompanied by Sub Divisional Police Officer Mendhar Sheezan Bhat addressed a press conference in Mendhar and termed the recovery as a “big success for forces”.

He said that security forces conducted operations in areas of Line of Control as a routine security practice and a similar operation was launched in Balakote area during which this recovery has been made.

“Around fifteen kilograms of Heroin like substance have been recovered and seized and investigation has been initiated,” the SSP said.

Pertinently, this is the second big recovery of narcotics from an area along the line of control as a similar recovery was made on January 22 this year in Poonch sector area and a huge consignment of 31 kg of heroin was made by police and army.

“However, no arrest has been made in this case so far,” he said.
