With increase in traffic flow, traffic jams have become a new norm in Srinagar’s downtown area. Locals said that despite the installation of traffic lights, the oldtown witness massive traffic mess in the absence of traffic police.
Talking with The Kashmir Walla, SSP Traffic Muzzafar Shah said that the onus is on people to follow the traffic rules. “Traffic police are not mandatory .I request people to follow the traffic rules to avoid traffic jams and accidents. However, we will still look into the issue in the coming days,” Shah said.
