Srinagar: Two militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Hardshiva area of North Kashmir’s Sopore on Thursday.
A local news gathering agency, Global News Service quoting unnamed officials reported that two militants have been killed during the firefight, however, their identity is yet to ascertained.
Meanwhile, mobile Internet services have been suspended in Sopore for precautionary measures.
Pertinently, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar recently in a press conference said, “Our focus will shift towards north Kashmir after wiping out militancy in South,”
Earlier according to the reports a joint team of Police, Army’s 22 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Hardshiva.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
