Third civilian injured at Srinagar gunfight site succumbs to burn injuries

Srinagar: A 25-year-old man, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, who was injured in a house collapse in Nawakadal gunfight site on Tuesday, has succumbed at Shri Majaraja Hari Singh hospital.

Speaking to The Kashmir Walla, Medical Superintendent at the hospital, Dr. Nazir Ahmed said, “After a 55-year-old man’s death, a 25-year-old man also succumbed. He had more than 90 per cent burn injuries.” Dr. Nazir further added that the hospital had received five injured on Tuesday, among them, two were earlier discharged.

Mr. Bhat was a resident of Nawakadal area of Srinagar. On Tuesday, he had visited the gunfight site, where two militants, including Junaid Sehrai, was killed.

The concerned Station House Officer, Safa Kadal police station, Aadil Rashid, had told The Kashmir Walla that people had gone to visit the gunfight site despite the banner and the local mohalla president also told not to allow visitors.

Earlier, a 55-year-old man also succumbed to his injuries today morning while as on Wednesday, a 13-year-old, who was also injured at the same spot, succumbed to severe burn injuries.

Several houses were damaged in the gunfight.
