Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said that there will be no militancy in Kashmir after two years.

“Let me assure you that there will be no militancy in Jammu and Kashmir after two years. The Government of India is working in this direction,” he said while addressing a gathering in Jammu.

He said that people are a worried about law and order situation and some concerns are being expressed as well. “I want to assure you that situation is not what it was earlier and that it has changed a lot,” the LG said. “Some elements are trying to keep the militancy alive but I assure you all that there will be no militancy in J-K after two years.”

The LG Sinha’s statement comes close on the heels of massive public anger over the killing of civilians in Hyderpora, Srinagar gunfight and the demand by the family members of slain to handover them the bodies of their dear ones. The LG has already ordered a magisterial probe into the Hyderpora gunfight—(KNO)
