The office of the District Magistrate Srinagar has taken note of a viral video, in which a family from the Hyderpora area of Srinagar accused their neighbor of encroaching public land with the help of hundreds of armed police forces that also manhandled women at the site.

The order further reads that the instant matter seems to be related to the erection of the gate by one party and objection to this activity by another party.

Srinagar DM Aijaz Assad taking note of the video has appointed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar Khursheed Ahmad Shah as the enquiry officer, directing him to submit a report on the matter within two days.

In the video, 27-year-old Aliya Wahid accused her neighbor as having “brought hundred people in a police vehicle to manhandle us, they hit us.

They did not wait for us to show proof of our property.” Wahid said that the police intervened at the behest of Mukhtar Ahmad Shah despite the matter being subjudice. “I am alone with three daughters,” the women can be heard saying. “When he could not do it legally, he used his influence.”
