A municipal councilor and one Special Police Officer (SPO) were killed in a militant attack on Monday afternoon in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A local newspaper Kashmir Despatch reported that municipal Councilor Riyaz Ahmad and security guard Shafkat (cop) were attacked by militants in Sopore and were later admitted to hospital.
However, both councilor and his guard succumbed to their injuries. Sources said that a municipal meeting was underway when the attack took place.
Reports added that the news about the killing of a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) District Development Council member Dr. Fareeda is fake.
