Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) on Saturday held a condolence meeting over the demise of noted religious scholar and preacher Peer Shams-ud-din.
PC leaders who attended the remembrance meeting include PC President Sajad Gani Lone, senior VP Abdul Gani Vakil, Nizamuddin Bhat, Basharat Bukhari, Mansoor Hussain Soharvardi, Nazir Ahmed Laway, Fayaz Ahmed Mir, Abid Ansari, Adv. Bashir Ahmed Dar, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Khursheed Alam, Safina Baig, Yasir Reshi, Raja Aijaz Ali, Murtaza Khan, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Parvaiz Nengroo, Sheikh Imran, Hilal Rather, Hilal Rather, Irfan Panditpori, Rashid Mehmood, Adnan Ashraf Mir, Rahil Dar among others.
According to the party spokesperson, PC leaders, during the meeting, highlighted the immense contributions rendered by the deceased scholar in spreading the message of Islam in Kashmir.
The spokesperson added: “They said Peer sahib will be remembered for times to come for his hard work to spread the message of peace and universal brotherhood.”
The party leaders also remembered “the crucial role played by him in the upliftment of the downtrodden sections of the society and his lifelong contributions towards propagation of Islamic thought in Jammu and Kashmir”.
“Praying for the departed soul, the PC leadership commiserated with the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with them at this difficult hour,” the spokesperson added in the statement.
