Peoples Conference leader Sajjad Lone Wednesday said that the probe conducted in alleged Hyderpora gunfight was on expected lines and that it was one more addition to hundreds of ‘ornamental probes.’

Taking to his Twitter handle, the former Jammu and Kashmir minister said, “Hyderpora probe on expected lines. One more addition to hundreds of ornamental probes, Any victims of the past or of the future better ensure that they are not caught up in wrong place at the wrong time or even right place at the wrong time. Onus to save oneself is on the self.”

His comment came a day after police gave clean chit to government forces involved in the alleged gunfight that ran into controversies after families of those killed contested police claims of the slain having militant ties.

On Tuesday, SIT incharge DIG Central Kashmir Sujit Kumar Singh yesterday told media men that Altaf Bhat was made a human shield by the foreign militant Bilal Bhai, while Dr Gull was killed by foreign militant and that Amir Magray of Ramban was also a militant who was killed in the gunfight.

The Hyderpora gunfight took place on 15 November in which four persons—a foreign militant Bilal Bhai, a youth from Ramban Amir Magray, building owner Altaf Bhat and Dr Mudasir Gul were killed. The bodies of Bhat and Dr Gul were exhumed after three days from Handwara graveyard and handed over to their families for burial.
