Srinagar: The policeman who was injured in a gunfight in Srinagar’s downtown on Sunday evening has succumbed, the police said.
In a “chance” gunfight in Nowhatta in the evening, one policeman and a militant were injured. The policeman has been identified as Ct Sarfaraz Ahmad, a resident of Batote, Ramban.
“We pay rich tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty,” the police said in a tweet.
Police on Sunday said that the vehicle used by two militants, associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was seized while one rifle and two grenades have also been recovered in Nowhatta area of Srinagar.
As per a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police in a tweet said that vehicle (scooter) used by two LeT militants has been seized from the incident site.
