One militant was killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Srigufara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, reported a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS). A woman was also injured in the gunfight.

“One unidentified militant has been killed and lady was injured in on-going operation,” an unnamed police official told GNS.

Earlier, the gunfight had ensued after a joint team of the police, Army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifles, and E/116 of Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Srigufara village.

As the joint team reached near the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. (GNS)
