Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh has called upon the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure that entries with regard to departmental enquiries of officers are properly reflected in the character rolls, warning that negligence in this regard may invite disciplinary action.
He said that entries with regard to departmental enquiries and involvements in criminal cases are not reflected in the character rolls of delinquent officers due to which some of them got promoted to the next rank.
This, the DGP said, “is the grave misconduct on the part of concerned CRCs (Criminal Record Centres) and violation of Police Rule 195”.
The J-K Police chief directed the unit heads of police to ensure that entries with regard to departmental enquiries/punishments/good entries etc ordered by the competent authority are properly reflected in the character rolls by the CRCs and countersigned by the concerned supervisory officers.
“In case any departmental enquiry/criminal involvement is initiated after the transfer of the officer, the same is communicated well in time to his concerned DDO,” the DGP said, adding that any lapse in this regard will attract disciplinary action against the concerned officer.
