The residents of Keller area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district protested on Monday to press for the demand of a playground in the village.
The residents of the village said that their children have no place to play as most of them come from poor financial backgrounds. “We belong to a far-flung area and we aren’t so rich. We are facing a lot of problems because there is no playground in our Tehsil,” said Sadam Hussain Shah, a 22-year-old resident.
Shah said that the people have been requesting the authorities to convert a piece of forest land available in the village into a playground. “We have already given an application to the Deputy Commissioner Shopian and to the Divisional Forest Officer. But both of them said that they cannot give us the forest land,” he added.
There is only one playground located in district Shopian and it is not feasible for young children from different areas to reach there. “We appeal to the government to listen to us and provide us with a ground,” said Shah.
