South African allrounder, Chris Morris who was bought for Rs. 16.25 crore will earn a whopping 29 lakh rupees for every over that he bowls in the Indian Premier League (IPL)
A breakdown of stats by Sports Tiger revealed that Morris will earn Rs. 1.16 crore per match (if Rajasthan Royals doesn’t qualify for play-offs and Morris plays all 14 matches in the league stages).
“If we consider that he bowls 4 overs every match, his salary per every over will be an unbelievable figure of Rs. 29 lakh. Talking about it further, if Morris bowls 6 legal deliveries every over, the all-rounder receives a sum of Rs. 1.2 lakh for every ball he bowls.” The Publication pointed out.
The numbers are certainly mind-boggling considering the fact that every delivery that Morris bowls during IPL 2021 costs more than a lakh to Rajasthan Royals.
While the 33-year-old did take 2 wickets in the opening match against Punjab Kings, he was a bit expensive as he conceded 41 runs in 4 overs.
Morris became the costliest player in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) auction after he was bought by Rajasthan Royals Rs 16.25 crore.
The 33-year-old South-African all-rounder was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore after the IPL 2020 season.
In 2015 after having being bought by Delhi Daredevils at 16 crore rupees, Yuvraj Singh was the costliest-ever buy in auction history. Following the former India all-rounder are Pat Cummins (Rs 15.5 crore, 2020) and Ben Stokes (14.5 crore, 2017).
Morris has played 70 IPL matches for 80 wickets at an economy of 7.81, apart from 551 runs at a strike rate above 157.
