Srinagar: The mobile internet services have been snapped in Anantnag district of south Kashmir amid an intermittent gunfight between militants and government forces in Bijbehera area.

Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 3RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kandipora area of Bijbhera amid specific information about the presence of at least two militants.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight which was going at intermittently when this report was filed.

As per local reports said that mobile internet services have been snapped in the entire district.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and the forces told GNS.

He said that all exits points have been sealed and lights installed to prevent militants from escaping as they have turned down the offer to surrender. (GNS)
