A gunfight breaks out between militants and the government forces in Parigam area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
According to the reports reaching a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS), a joint team of the police, Army’s 50 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Parigam.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight.
An unidentified senior police officer told GNS that the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants is underway in an orchard of Parigam. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped. (GNS)
