A former militant was arrested in Bagli Modh area of Doda district for selling drugs in the area, police said on Sunday.

In a statement, on 11 November a case FIR No. 88/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Gandoh in which one drug peddler namely Adil Iqbal of Pingal was arrested on spot.

The statement reads his co-accused, a surrendered militant namely Anayatullah Khan had fled away from the spot.

“After hectic efforts of a police party led by SHO P/S Gandoh, Inspector Vikram Singh assisted by PSI Arhie Bhushan arrested the drug peddler from Bagli Modh of Gandoh,” it reads.

It reads he was earlier involved in number of FIRs of Police Station Gandoh viz., case FIR No. 128/2006 U/S 366 RPC 7/27 A Act, FIR No. 94/2010 U/S 354,323 RPC, FIR No. 20/2012 U/S 354,323 RPC, FIR No. 24/2014 U/S 451,323,504 RPC and FIR No. 70/2020 U/S 457,380 IPC.

“The links of the drug peddlers are being ascertained and further investigation is going on,” it reads. (KNO)
