Handwara: Seventy-year-old woman died of electric shock in North Kashmir’s Handwara town on Sunday.

A local news agency – Kashmir News Trust, quoted police officials saying that an old woman received an electric shock near her home and she died on spot.

The woman has been identified as Safeen Begum wife of Syed Mehtab Shah of Sonmulla Putwa area of Handwara.

Police Station Vilgam has registered a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, a daily wager working in Power Development Department (PDD) was also injured after receiving an electric shock while performing his duties in Ompora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital and was identified as Abdul Rashid Teli of Zooribagh, Budgam.

Police Station Budgam has registered a case in this regard and set investigation into motion. (KNT)
