Over 16 percent votes were polled in south Kashmir till 11 am in the third phase of DDC elections on Friday, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
In Anantnag, out of 63480 votes, 7208 votes were polled till 11 am, an unidentified official told the agency. He said that in Kulgam out of 12426 votes, 6173 votes were polled, taking the poll percentage to 49.7 percent.
He further added that in Shopian 11 percent vote have been polled till 11 am.
“Out of 24895 votes 1134 votes were polled in Pulwama which is 4.6 percent of the total votes while in Aripal Tral out of 25429 votes 1576 votes were polled in which is out of 6.2 percent of the total votes,” he said.
The aggregate percentage of the votes polled in south Kashmir is 16.58 percent till 11 am.
A total of 305 candidates, including 166 from the Kashmir division and 139 from Jammu division, are contesting the DDC polls. Out of these 305 candidates, 252 are male while 53 are female candidates. (KNO)
