Unknown gunmen on Friday shot at and injured a candidate of Apni Party contesting the District Development Council polls in Kokernag belt of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

An unidentified official told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that Anees Ahmad, affiliated with J-K Apni Party, who has filed his form as DDC candidate from Sagam Kokernag block, was shot at and injured in Sagam area. Another report stated that Anees received a bullet wound in the arm. He was immediately rushed to SDH Kokernag for treatment.

He said that he was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. An official while confirming the incident said that area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. (KNO)
