Srinagar: Two brothers, who escaped from a COVID-19 quarantine centre in Shopian district, south Kashmir, were brought back and booked by the police, officials said.

Officials told that two brothers — Anayat Ahmed Khanday and Muhammad Ashraf Khanday — who are residents of Malikbugh village of Shopian, fled from the quarantine centre on late Tuesday evening. After being informed about the incident, a police team immediately started tracing the duo and brought them back — after finding them at their home — the same evening, they said.

Official said that despite knowing that the COVID-19 can be fatal, they negligently and deliberately left the quarantine centre increasing the risk of spreading the disease. A case has been registered against them, they said. (KNT)
