Srinagar: Restrictions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir continued for the ninth consecutive day on Friday to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The markets across Srinagar as well as in other areas of Kashmir Valley remained closed. The district administration has also ordered for closure of religious places in Srinagar.

On Thursday morning, a 67-year-old man died due to the on-going COVID-19 outbreak and two children were tested positive in Srinagar. In J-K, there are at least fourteen positive cases of the virus.

So far, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India has mounted to 724 with 17 deaths.

Meanwhile, on 24 March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 21-day lockdown amid the swelling in number of coronavirus cases in India.
