Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the on-going lockdown in the country will be extended till 3 May as the cases of coronavirus spike.
Modi said that till 20 April all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing norms. States which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions implementing norms.
Earlier on Saturday, Modi had held consultations with several Chief Ministers through video-conferencing. He had discussed the need for extending the lockdown further after taking into consideration the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
So far, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Inida is 10,363 with 339 deaths.
