Jammu and Kashmir Police has booked a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Saleem Sheikh, who is also the Block Development Chairman in Shopian district, south Kashmir, for violating prohibitory orders.

Sheikh, who is BDC from Panchayat Halqa, Heerpora, was roaming freely in different Shopian villages and despite being warned, the said BJP leader was ignoring warnings.

A police official confirming the incident said that a formal FIR vide number 12/2020 under section 188, 269 was registered against the violator at Police Station, Heerpora, Shopian.

So far, Shopian has thirteen positive COVID-19 cases and Kanipora, Heerpora has already been declared as red zones. (KNT)
