In a militant attack, one person from the minority community has been killed while another was injured after shots were fired at an apple orchard in the Chotipora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday, the police said.
“Terrorists fired upon civilians in an apple orchard in Chotipora area of #Shopian. One person died and one injured. Both belong to minority community,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
An official told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that militants fired upon two brothers identified as Sunil Kumar and Pintu Kumar sons of Arjun Nath Kumar in Chotigam area, resulting in on spot death of Sunil, while Pintoo was injured.
He said that Pintu has been shifted to hospital for treatment, while the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
