The Pakistan Super League exhibition fixture between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi was momentarily halted after multiple mishaps including stone pelting and a bomb blast near the stadium.

The fixture was played at the Bigut Stadium in Quetta where security was on high alert over the last few days because of this exhibition match.

According to Pakistani news site Dawn.com, the blast took place near the FC Mussa checkpoint, leaving more than five people injured on Sunday morning.

According to local media reports, the explosion took place in a secure area near the Quetta Police headquarters and the entrance of Quetta Cantonment.

Footage of the aftermath of the event is being circulated widely on social media, but the number of casualties remains unknown.

Edhi worker Zeeshan Ahmed, who is leading the rescue operation on the site, told Dawn.com that the injured persons have been moved to the Civil Hospital, Quetta.

The match, however, restarted after about 30 minutes.
