Srinagar: Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday appointed former Indian Administrative Service officer, B R Sharma, as chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC).

After the directions from Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone (IAS) Secretary to the government ordered the appointment of Sharma.

The order reads: “In exercise of powers conferred by section 93 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, and S.O. 3937 (E) dated 31ist October 2019, read with the order issued in terms of sub-clause (i) of clause (c) of the proclamation issued by the President dated 31 ist October 2019, the Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to appoint B R Sharma (IAS) (Retired), as chairman, Public Service Commission for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He shall hold the position of the Chairman, Public Service Commission, till he attains the age of sixty-two years.” (GNS)
