Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) today condemned and expressed grave concern over the “gruesome killing of two unarmed civilians” in Hyderpora Srinagar by the government forces.

Paying tributes to Altaf Ahmad Bhat and Dr Mudasir Gul, the AAC, in a statement said that according to family sources, the way these “two innocent persons were brutally killed by the forces tantamount to the murder of humanity, democracy and justice”.

Calling the tragedy an eye-opener for the human rights organisations, the AAC demanded that the bodies of the deceased should be immediately returned to the bereaved families.

In this tragic hour, the Kashmiri people not only stand with the grief-stricken families but also express full solidarity with the victims.

The AAC said that since 1947 till date, the killings and bloodshed in Jammu & Kashmir and the relentless violation of basic human rights have continued unabated and all this is due to the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Unless India, Pakistan and the Kashmiri people come together to find a permanent solution to this issue, lasting peace and security in the region is not possible, the AAC said—(KNO)
