Over 50 students in Druk Padma Karpo School in Leh district of Ladakh which is popularly known as Rancho School, tested positive for COVID-19 prompting the district administration Leh to order the closure of all schools in the district for 15 days, reported Daily Excelsior.
Quoting the health officials Daily Excelsior reported that as many as 56 students in Druk Padma Karpo School, which had shot into fame following the shooting of Aamir Khan’s ‘3 Idiots’ have tested positive for COVID-19. The students have been isolated and quarantined.
As per the report, the district administration Leh ordered the closure of all schools in Leh district for 15 days and directed that online classes should be encouraged soon after getting the test results.
Meanwhile, there are now 109 active cases in Ladakh, including 106 in Leh and three in Kargil. The officials told Press Trust of India (PTI) that the total number of recovered in the region is 20,386. Ladakh has registered 207 COVID-related deaths — 149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil — since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
