4 notorious drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar: J-K Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested four notorious drug peddlers and recovered narcotics and proceeds of narcotics worth Rs. 1.25 lacs from their possession.

The Police identified the accused as: Sajad Ahmed Beigh S/O Abdul Hamid Beigh R/O Aluchibagh, Aamir Mir S/O Mohd Ashraf Mir R/O Mujgund Srinagar were arrested from a checking Point at Lal Chowk by a police party of Kothibagh Police station.

“During search 21.5gms of brown sugar like substance was recovered,” the police said.

The police said that another nakka point an alert police party of police station Kothibagh, after reception of an intelligence, the movement of another drug peddler namely Farooq Ahmed Shah S/O Gulam Qadir Shah R/O Rawalpura Shopian was tracked and he was apprehended, from search 25 gms of heroin like substance was recovered.

The police said that subsequently, FIR no’s 19/22 and FIR no 20/22 US 8/21 NDPS Act were lodged at Police station Kothibagh and investigation was set into motion to trace the backward and forward links.

The police said similarly one more drug peddler, Gulam Nabi Bhat S/o Abdul Gani Bhat R/o Bagi Dilawar khan Shamsipora Babdem was apprehended at SRTC Bridge by alert nakka party of Police station KaralKhud.

The police said that during his search the following were recovered:

  1. Syp. Rescoff. 100 ml = 10 bottles
  2. Tab. Escilatopram = (10 tabs)
  3. Tab. Eprium = (10 tablets)
  4. Tab Quitapine = (10 tabs)
  5. Charas like substance = 50 gram
  6. Cash = one lac twenty thousands and five hundred rupees (Rs.120500/-)

Police said that a case FIR no.07/2022 U/S 8/20,22,27-A NDPS Act was registered at police station Karalkhud and investigation was set into motion .

Srinagar Police in its endeavour to curb drug menace is in the process of tightening the noose against drug peddlers and has booked many drug peddlers in Public Safety Act as well. (KNS)
