People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and a former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, said Monday that Enforcement Department’s sudden summon to Dr Farooq Abdullah displays Government of India’s nervousness about mainstream parties in J-K fighting as one unit.

In a tweet, Ms. Mufti said: “ED’s sudden summon to Farooq sahib displays the extent of GOIs nervousness about mainstream parties in J&K fighting as one unit. Also reeks of political vendetta & wont in the least blunt our collective resolve to fight for our rights.”

Earlier, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and is being questioned. A local news gathering agency quoting unnamed officials reported that ED asked Dr Farooq to reach its Srinagar office at 11:30 am today and “possibly questioned regarding cricket scam.” (Inputs from KNO)
