Locals from Sonwar area of Srinagar city claimed that they spotted a wild bear on Friday morning. They said the presence of the bear created panic in the area.

The bear according to locals was spotted in Iqbal Colony and Indra Nagar area.

“I was scared and had a narrow escape. The bear moved towards upper reaches after dogs ran after it,” said a local Irshad Ahmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust.

“People particularly children and women are reluctant to come out from their homes after the word about the presence of black bear spread in the area,” he added.

Locals appealed to Wild Life Department to capture the bear at an earliest. (KNT)
